Biography
Barbara Howey lives and works in Norwich, UK. Her MA was in Art History at Leeds University in 1992 and she received a PhD in painting and theory from Norwich University of the Arts in 2001. Her current painting practice invites the viewer in- close to fungal, animal and plant subjects. The painting language is gestural and expressionistic using heightened colour and a direct process of working wet into wet in one sitting. Barbara Howey has exhibited nationally and internationally both in group and solo exhibitions and has taken part in major UK painting prizes such as John Moores Painting Prize in 2014.
